Frustrated Flash memory

I've been scanning the net looking for a 8GB or larger flash drive and I have to say " MY GOD...how many companies make these things????? " Is one better than another? It seems every review site I go to says the opposite of the LAST review site I went to. Are they're no more truly independent review sites left?
